Women’s Copa del Cure Leukaemia – 1st March at St. George’s Park
National blood cancer charity Cure Leukaemia is holding its 2nd annual Women’s Copa del Cure Leukaemia corporate football tournament at the home of the Lionesses, St. George’s Park on the 1st March.
Delivered in partnership with Women in Football and building on the success of Cure Leukaemia’s original mixed gender event that has been held annually since 2020; the women’s only version is unique in offering such an opportunity for females in the corporate space and has teams participating this year from the likes of The Premier League, WiF, Carling, ITV Sport, Salesforce, PwC and Globant and ex-professional players including Sue Smith, Katie Chapman, Lianne Sanderson and Rachel Unitt playing on the day.
Cure Leukaemia is keen to showcase the event across the sports industry and continue to build on the momentum the first year has generated by demonstrating the event on the 1st March to the sports industry. Places are limited but Cure Leukaemia would be delighted to welcome guests on the day to see the event in action. The day starts at St. George’s Park at 12.30pm with the player draw before the tournament itself runs from approx. 1.30pm to 6pm before a post-tournament gala celebration dinner and special guest Q&A.
The event is part of the charity’s drive to offer more sporting opportunities across its fundraising events to women which includes the launch of a new cycling event for 2024, The Route. Cure Leukaemia has recently announced it is the official UK charity partner of the Tour de France femmes avec Zwift and the event will involve a team of female riders completing the full tour route just a day ahead of the professional riders and teams in August.
Cure Leukaemia funds a network of specialist nurses conducting clinical trials that significantly impact global treatment in the short, medium and long term with the ultimate aim of ending the disease as life-threatening within a decade. In 2024, Cure Leukaemia is launching a paediatric network.
